At one time the habanero was the hottest pepper known. But it has long since been surpassed by even hotter peppers.
However, don't think this pepper does not pack a "punch". It is still fiery. Definitely not for the faint-hearted!
If you want to tone it down a little, remove the seeds from the habanero peppers in step 3 of the recipe.
Caution: You should wear gloves when handling any spicy peppers. Avoid touching face and especially eyes. Avoid breathing fumes of peppers when cooking or processing in a blender or food processor.
