Menu Idea -Southern Fried Chicken Dinner
This page is intended to show what dishes commonly go together to make a traditional Southern Fried Chicken dinner.
Southern Fried Chicken is probably the most popular Southern dish. Unfortunately, many people relate Southern Fried Chicken to what they have eaten in restaurants and, in most instances, that ain't Southern Fried Chicken.
You will note from our recipe that authentic Southern Fried Chicken is very simple. It is not cooked with a half dozen exotic spices. KFC chicken may be good, but it's not Southern.
Our menu includes traditional side dishes except, perhaps, for the Mississippi Mud Pie which is usually served on special occasions. You can make the cole slaw ahead, even the day before, since it's flavor only improves after sitting some time. Be sure to prepare the mashed potatoes last since they get cold very fast and should be served steaming hot.
