Crock Pot Sauerbraten Recipe
Ingredients
* 2 lbs beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch pieces* 1 cup chopped onions
* 1 cup beef broth
* 1 cup red wine vinegar or cider vinegar
* 2 dried bay leaves
* 6 cups uncooked medium egg noodles (12 oz.)
* 3/4 cup crushed gingersnap cookies (about 15)
* 2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Directions
1. In 4-quart Crock Pot, mix beef, onions, broth, vinegar and bay leaves.2. Cover; cook on Low heat 7 to 9 hours or until meat is tender.
3. About 15 minutes before serving, cook noodles as directed on package.
4. Remove bay leaves from Crock Pot.
5. Add crushed cookies and brown sugar to Crock Pot and stir.
6. Cover; cook on Low heat 15 minutes longer or until mixture is bubbly and thickened.
Serve over the cooked noodles, garnished with fresh parsley.
