Cajun Steak Rouille Recipe
Ingredients
* 1 pound tender beef steak cut 1/2 inch thick
* Salt, as needed
* crushed red pepper
* 1/4 cup vegetable oil
* 1 medium onion, finely sliced
* Water, as needed
Directions
1. Season steak with salt and red pepper on all sides.
2. In a heavy bottomed skillet, place meat in cold oil over medium heat and cook until most of the liquid has cooked out.
3. Turn meat, add 1 tablespoon water and cook until meat starts frying, then turn meat and add another tablespoon of water.
4. Continue with the process of turning, frying and adding water until meat is tender.
5. Add onion, cook until tender. Add a little water; scrape bottom of skillet to loosen all meat remnants to make a light gravy.
Serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
