Cajun Seasoning Recipe
Cajun seasoning may be purchased at your local market, but why buy when you can make your own? It cost less and, best of all, when you make your own, you can adjust it to your own taste. Here are a couple of recipes for Cajun Seasoning.
* Cajun Seasoning Recipe #1 *Ingredients
* 2 tablespoons paprika* 1 tablespoon salt
* 1 tablespoon black pepper
* 2 teaspoons garlic powder
* 2 teaspoons onion powder
* 2 teaspoons ground red pepper
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1 teaspoon dried thyme
Directions
Very simple! Combine all ingredients, mix well.Makes about 1/3 cup. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 weeks.
* Seasoning Recipe #2 *(a little spicy)
Ingredients
* 1/4 cup salt* 3 tablespoons granulated garlic or garlic powder
* 3 tablespoons ground black pepper
* 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, or to taste
* 1 tablespoon paprika
Directions
Combine all seasonings and mix to blend thoroughly. Pour into a small jar with cover; seal tightly.* Blackened Seasoning for Fish, Steak or Chicken *
Ingredients
* 2 teaspoons ground paprika* 4 teaspoons dried leaf thyme
* 2 teaspoons onion powder
* 2 teaspoons garlic powder
* 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
* 2 teaspoons salt
* 2 teaspoons black pepper
* 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, or to your taste
* 1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
* 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
* 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions
Combine all ingredients, mix well. Store in a sealed contained in a cool dark place. Shake jar well before each use.
