Sorghum Baked Beans Recipe
Baked beans go well with most any meat. They are economical and healthy. You might jazz up this baked beans recipe by adding a few drops of your favorite hot sauce. Or make your own hot sauce with our Hot Sauce recipe.
This is an excellent way to make use of those left over beans. Red beans, pinto beans or kidney beans are recommended but any type beans may be used.
Ingredients* 2 cups cooked beans (kidney, red beans, pinto or whatever you have)
* 5 slices bacon
* 1 onion, coursely chopped
* 3 tablespoons catsup
* 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
* 1/4 cup water
* 1/2 cup sorghum molasses
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Fry the bacon until done, but not crisp. Cut into 2 inch pieces.
3. Combine bacon with all remaining ingredients in an oven-safe medium casserole dish. Stir well.
4. Cover and bake for twenty minutes.
5. Reduce heat to 250 degrees F, and continue to cook for two hours.
